maya metz died on october 17th, 2025 outside of her apartment in central michigan.

shortly before her untimely and gruesome death, maya had completed the required courses and field work necessary in order to become certified in bomb defusal and disposal.

ms. metz was killed by an active landmine which was accidentally left on her porch by the united states military. while trying to get her mail (specifically an amazon package containing roughly 200,000 marbles), maya stepped on the explosive and was instantly eviscerated. neither maya, nor the 200,000 marbles, were able to be salvaged.

in lieu of flowers, ms. metz requests those who wish to pay their respects to make a donation to her venmo.

no memorial service will be held at maya's request.
